Anti-CEO-TraitsDo You Exhibit Any Of These Anti-CEO Traits? Are You Sure?

Anti-CEOs are alive and well. Somewhere in America or around the world, there’s an anti-CEO looking out the window on the 50th floor and wondering where and when he became an anti CEO. He or she may also be searching for an answer to help them get back on track. Sometimes, the CEO is too close to the trees to see the actual forest. That lack of insight has caused mighty empires to fall. Once fallen, they’re too big and burdened to rise from the ashes.

Subraya Mallya, a technology executive, provides an interesting take on the traits of an anti-CEO. According to Subraya these noticeable traits include the following:

• The CEO Is the Smartest One in the Company – No doubt, a CEO has to be smart to occupy the chair. However, problems start brewing when the CEO delves in to solve every problem. Good employees need a certain level of autonomy if they’re to remain motivated.

• The CEO Is Quick to Find Fault in Others – Never mind that the company product, value proposition and support structures were all lacking! No one was manning the oars.

• The CEO Is out of Touch with the Rank and File – It’s impossible to engage with every member of the corporation, all the time. However, good CEOs find a way to get the message out to convey their appreciation for the hard work of others at every level.

The reality is it’s easy to complain about the actions of those in charge. They’re a sitting duck. A target. However, at the end of the day, good CEOs have a way of doing things that allow you to step back, take a look at the big picture and say, “I understand. It was a tough decision, but I would have done it that way as well.”
